Deep Research is the part of Fuse that goes out and fetches data for you. Rather than being locked to one vendor, it can call 39 external providers, and it picks the right one for the question you asked. You do not choose a provider per request. Describe what you need in plain language and the agent decides which providers to call, in what order, and how to combine what comes back.

Provider keys

Deep Research runs most of these providers on Fuse’s own accounts, billed to your credit balance, so a run can use them without any setup. You can add your own key for a provider instead, and your runs then use it. A few providers, such as Apollo and People Data Labs, are offered to the agent only after you add your own key: the Provider Keys tab marks them.
Provider keys are managed in the Fuse app under Settings, on the Provider Keys tab. It is limited to workspace owners and admins. If you do not see it, ask your workspace owner or contact support.
When you save a key, Fuse immediately calls the provider to check it, so an invalid or expired key is rejected there and then rather than failing silently in the middle of a research run. If Fuse cannot reach the provider to check the key, it is not saved; try again later. Keys are stored encrypted, and you can replace or delete one at any time. A key belongs to the person who saved it and is used only for their runs; it is not shared with the workspace.

What it costs

Each successful provider step costs 20 credits on Fuse’s keys and 5 on your own key. A few steps are free. The effort you pick when you start a run caps what it spends on Fuse’s keys at 1,000, 2,000 or 5,000 credits; steps on your own key are billed on top of that cap. See credits and billing.

Keeping current

Providers are added over time. GET /business/research/providers returns the current list for your account, with how each one is keyed (keyMode, source) and whether runs can call it (allowedInRuns). Each provider has a guide with example prompts at tryfuse.ai/providers/{id}.

Stopping a run

A run that is taking too long, or was started against the wrong prompt, can be stopped with POST /business/research/runs/{runId}/cancel.
The call answers with the run’s status at that moment, usually still running. The run stops at its next step and becomes cancelled; poll GET /business/research/runs/{runId} to confirm. Provider steps already completed stay billed, and credits reserved for unfinished work are released. A run that has already finished answers 409 RUN_ALREADY_TERMINAL.
